Laura Graves and Verdades Finish Third in CDIO5* Grand Prix Freestyle

Aachen, Germany – July 23, 2017 – On the final day of competition at the World Equestrian Festival CHIO Aachen, dressage riders headed down centerline for the CDIO5* Grand Prix Freestyle. American anchor, Laura Graves and her 15-year-old KWPN gelding, Verdades, were determined for another win in Germany, but mistakes in the canter tour pushed the score to 82.55 percent. The pair finished in third place behind world-ranked #1 rider, Isabell Werth, and fellow German teammate Sönke Rothenberger. Werth won the class with an 89.657 percent on Weihegold OLD, a 12-year-old Oldenburg mare, and Rothenberger and Cosmo 59, a 10-year-old KWPN gelding placed second with an 85.75 percent.

Laura Graves was not able to hide her disappointment, which was understandable! “I just hope that I will be invited back,” she joked during the press conference.

American Kasey Perry-Glass and her 14-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, Goerklintgaards Dublet, finished in ninth place with a 75.5 percent. Olivia LaGoy-Weltz and Lonoir, a 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, scored a 74.425 percent and finished in twelfth place.
